A couple of months ago, Diario Rombe has published some information about a lawsuit by Mr. Guy Christian Agbor, a Lawyer in New York against President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Dougan Champion Armando. Mr. Agbor was the Legal Adviser of the Permanent Mission of Equatorial Guinea in New York from 2010-2014; Mr. Agbor has also assisted Mr. Ruben Maye Nsue Mangue as he was being considered persona non grata by the United States Department of States. Today Diario Rombe is has the exclusive opportunity to ask some direct questions to Mr. Agbor concerning the case.
DiarioR.: Thanks for accepting to be interviewed by Diario Rombe, we have been trying to get in touch with you since you started your case against the Presidency of Equatorial Guinea, President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Dougan Champion Armando in 2018 and how are you?
Guy Christian Agbor (GCA): I am fine and thanks for asking. Sorry, At that time, I was trying to avoid to much publicity on the case because I was convince that President Obiang will call me to talk.
DiarioR.: We have information that your complaint was dismissed by the Federal District Court of New York is that true?
GCA: That is not true. There was an issue with the service of process in the first complaint, but the case is still pending before the Federal District Court of New York, the court has just amended the complaint against Mr. Obiang Nguema and Dougan, initially when I filed the first complaint, I wanted President Obiang to call me so we can arrange the situation but unfortunately Anatolio Ndong Mba didn’t want me to meet President Obiang and told President Obiang that I was a thief!
DiarioR.: How do you explain Anatolio Ndong Mba’s information to President Obiang, we had information that you were his friend and you were the legal advisor of the Permanent Mission of Equatorial Guinea in New York?
GCA: I cannot explain why Anatolio Ndong Mba lied to President Obiang about me, but what I can tell you is that he lies a lot and that is going to cost President Obiang personally and it is going to cost the country too. In fact I was the Legal Advisor of the Permanent Mission of Equatorial Guinea in New York from 2010 to 2014 but before that I have provided services to the Embassy of Equatorial Guinea in Washington DC and to the Mission several times and was paid for my services. I have also provided services directly to the Government on President Obiang instructions and for these services some were paid and others were not paid. President Obiang has invited me to Mongongo and to Bata where I stayed for a month discussing with him and Vice President Obiang Mangue. I can safely tell you that I unveil a coup to extort President Obiang $ 2,5 Million in 2014 organized by Anatolio Ndong Mba and some Ivorians, and I told Mrs. Teresa Efuang Nsang and Mr. Augustine Nze Nfumu, when she didn’t informed President Obiang, I resigned and I was thinking that when I meet with the President in Malabo, I will expose them.
DiarioR.: As an African professional did you try to approach President Obiang to resolve the issue amicably?
GCA: Certainly I tried to reach President Obiang, in fact in 2014 I went to Malabo to meet with him but I was arrested at the People’s Palace behind the Sofitel and a couple of days later I was forced into Kronos plane to Cameroon and was to by the presidential guards not to ever set my foot again in Equatorial Guinea or I will be sent to Black Beach. I also tried sending messages through Ndong Molo, Teodoro Biyogo but nothing and when the President comes to New York, Anatolio Ndong Mba gives instructions not to let me see the President. As for Dougan Champion, he is always with the President. But as strange as this could be, I continued trying to see the President because I know him! He has always been honest with me before, and I am convince that he didn’t know why I was suing him, but at the same time, he was supposed to have someone else independently verified what is going on not relied on Anatolio Ndong Mba.
DiarioR.: Let’s talk about the case itself, why are you suing President Obiang in the United States of America, doesn’t have immunity as a President?
GCA: Without too much explanation since the case is ongoing, the case is a commercial case for services combined with the sale of cellphones to the Presidency through Dougan Armando Champion, the President’s adviser. The service was on Miss Universe show to be held in Malabo in 2013, I negotiated that event for the President, and he had promised to pay for my services and I have not been paid, it is that simple.
DiarioR.: We have information that President Obiang has authorized the payment to Miss Universe and that money was paid so why were you not paid? Who carried the proposal to the President? How much was the Miss Universe contract?
GCA: I had the same information and for the records, President Obiang asked me personally in Mongomo, in Bata and in Houston for this Miss Universe, Anatolio Ndong Mba is the one who took the proposal to the President and he is the one who knows where that money went, when I confronted him he told that Guillermina Meckuy took the money to organized Miss Tourismo in 2013 and ran away with the rest of the money. But that is not my business. President Obiang promised to pay me $ 275,000 if I negotiate the contract of $ 14 million and he must pay me with interest. It is as simple as that.
DiarioR.: But it has been a year since you started suing President Obiang, how long is that going to take for the court to decide on your complaint and you mentioned earlier that you have amended your complaint, can you please explain what that means?
GCA: the initial complaint was initiated so President Obiang can call me as an African leader and father to sit down like when he needed my services, this is a very small problem for him to do, I am not his enemy and have never been one before otherwise I would have never worked for him but I never thought that my friend Anatolio Ndong Mba will betray me like that, so to answer you question, Anatolio has also lied to the lawyer telling him that he doesn’t even know me! Really! And I was a thief! What a wicked and jealous man! The new service will be done by the court itself through the US marshal services. A copy in French will go through the US Consular services and then Diplomatic courier and the US Embassy in Malabo, and then it will be served to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malabo. I am also preparing to ask the court next week to seize President Obiang personal properties: 10501 Bit & Spur Lane Potomac, 20854 and 9909 Bentcross Drive Potomac MD 20854. I am also going on the criminal side with a complaint against Anatolio Ndong Mba for defamation in which I will provide the checks showing he stole money of the people of Equatorial Guinea; then another criminal complaint against Armando Dougan Champion, and I am meeting with my Senators to request the application of the Magnisky Act against Dougan Armando Champion. Also, I was contacted several times by prosecutors in Brazil to assist them in the Criminal Investigation about the Vice President but declined to collaborate with them but now President Obiang is leaving me no choice.
DiarioR.: What if President Obiang calls you now to resolve the problem are you willing to settle the matter?
GCA: Honestly, I am even surprised that it is taking so long, I am a politician, I don’t intend to be Minister anywhere in Africa or here in the US for that matter, I don’t have any other agenda but to get paid for my services and the 30 cellphones that were shipped to Dougan at the presidency in Malabo. It is unfortunate that the President is surrounded by rapacious vultures who don’t think about image of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and its institutions, it’s a shame for the President to be sued for less than $ 2,000,000. Every year, we count the interests going up. If not resolve I am also considering filing two criminal complaints against President Obiang in the US and in Switzerland for the money that he is been receiving from BGFI /Societe Generale and Afriland First through ABAYACK and personally.
Diario Rombe: Thank you for taking the time to explain to the People of Equatorial Guinea why you are suing the Presidency, President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and Dougan Armando in Federal Court in New York.
GCA: If I was President Obiang Nguema, I will be worried by the prospect that it is always a little stone that hurts. Thanks.
